Here’s what to look forward to in Myrtle Beach this fall, including annual festivals and family fun attractions that await you this season.
Little River ShrimpFest
Kicking off the fall festivities in style, the Little River ShrimpFest is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts. Typically held in early October, this festival is fun for the whole family. This year’s festival is set to be bigger & better than ever before with 2 stages of live music, stilt walkers, balloon artists, and more than 100 different vendors- including a variety of art and craft vendors, business expos, and community organizations. There will also be delicious shrimp and fresh local seafood served by the local waterfront restaurants and your festival food favorites will be available from a variety of talented food vendors.
This year’s ShrimpFest will be held on October 14th-15th.
Halloween Festivities
Fall is synonymous with Halloween, and Myrtle Beach knows how to celebrate it in spooktacular style. In October, you can expect a variety of family-friendly Halloween events. Brookgreen Gardens, a beautiful outdoor attraction, hosts “Harvest Home Weekend” on October 7th with pumpkin decorating, hayrides, and a scarecrow-building contest. The “Terror Under the Bridge” haunted house, suitable for older kids and adults, offers a thrilling scare.
There are also plenty of opportunities to trick-or-treat throughout the weeks leading up to Halloween. From costume contests at the MarshWalk to golf cart parades in Surfside, in Myrtle Beach, we celebrate the season all month long!
Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes
Celebrate fall with a trip to a local pumpkin patch or corn maze. Thompson Farms in Conway and Indigo Farms in Calabash are just a short drive from Myrtle Beach. They are known for their wide selection of pumpkins, gourds, and Indian corn. These family-friendly destinations offer the perfect getaway for taking seasonal photos, decorating pumpkins and corn, sipping hot cider and donuts under the cool fall air, enjoying hayrides through their colorful fields, or creating lasting memories inside one of their elaborate mazes that line every square inch of each property.
Fall Golf Getaways
Enjoy a day on the greens during your Myrtle Beach vacation. With reduced rates and pleasant temperatures in the fall, it’s an excellent time to tee off at some of the area’s top golf courses. Plus, the vibrant foliage adds a touch of natural beauty to your golfing experience.
Myrtle Beach is home to over 90 unique and challenging courses for all levels. From the award-winning Grande Dunes Golf Course to the beginner-friendly Beachwood Golf Course, you’re sure to find a deal for the season.
Autumn Beach Strolls
The shores of Myrtle Beach are perfect for a family vacation any time of the year. In the fall and winter, the beaches are less crowded than at other times of year, making it especially ideal for long walks along the shoreline. Collect shells and build sandcastles, or simply relax and enjoy the coastal serenity.
“Nights of a Thousand Candles”
Brookgreen Gardens is definitely a lover of the season. While this event takes place in November, it is the perfect night out to get into the holiday spirit! Beginning November 25th, see the gardens come to life with the soft glow of over 2,700 hand-lit candles and millions of sparkling lights.
